Keep it on the Bottom
We launched at the Hanover Street Ramps on the Patapsco River at 12:30 PM on Friday, Oct. 29, 2004. The skies were cloudy so we dropped down the 3 sided roll up enclosure on my boat to protect us from the rain. Showers and 3 foot seas greeted us as we crossed the Chesapeake Bay to fish some structures on the eastern shore.
The ride was smooth and dry as my catamaran moved swiftly in quartering seas. The water temperature was 59.8 degrees as I started casting a large surface popping plug. Jerry pick up a rod armed with a 1 1/2 ounce gold spoon and epoxy teaser fly located 2 feet above the spoon.
It wasn’t long before Jerry landed this nice striped bass.

We caught fish continuously until 5:00 PM in water depths from 10’ to 17’ ‘on the bottom’ with light spinning tackle.
Fishing Tip: Tie a Surgeon’s End Loop, with a 2” loop, at the end of your leader. Crimp the end of the loop between your thumb and forefinger then install the loop into the lure mounting eye or split ring. Run the lure up the line. Open the loop and install the lure, back end first, through the loop and pull the lure tight against the line.
This will allow you to install, remove, and install different lures without having to make a new knot for each lure.
Tight Lines,
