Finished my guiding trips on the Susquehanna Flats yesterday with a bang. A client and
myself caught 50+ striped bass on light tackle. No boats were out on the flats yesterday morning except for
my Twin Vee. The seas were rolling 3' plus chops. The winds were out of the NE at 25.
I ran down the west side channel with a following sea and my boat sat on top of the waves. It never slammed once and no water was taken on. I thought it would nose dive (like my Ranger) but nothing like that happened. She was running at 55 r's and at 28 mph. When coming back against the seas I did receive a few light sprays over the bow but again no pounding and a very smooth ride. This has been the roughest water I've been in and have found my boat to be outstanding. Knowing this will allow me to fish more days in more locations than ever before.
This year was GREAT on the Susquehanna Flats. Attached is a 49" striper, caught on light tackle.
It weights 49#s and was released after this picture.
